Lilly Aspell on being talent-spotted for a role that would change her life, and juggling top-flight showjumping with acting and school

Horses have always been part of my life. Before acting, a career with them was my main aim – I went from wanting to be a vet, to an eventer, to a showjumper, back to an eventer, back to a showjumper. When the acting came in, I realised that I love them both.

The acting really started when I was out shopping in London with my mum on the only day she had off – she was working in Newmarket at the time – and we got spotted. We were asked to go to an audition and had no idea what it was for. It turned out it was for Wonder Woman.

Filming was unreal. For someone so little – I was about seven or eight filming the first one – that experience at that age was just phenomenal. I was 10 when I did the second film, and I think the second one kind of sank in more. I rode the Devil’s Horsemen horses in that one, and that was unbelievable. It was mixing two loves together.
