Girl power prevails in the as championship two classy mares dazzle en route to the top two spots
-
A MARE and her rider advanced on the second place they achieved here 12 months ago to win the coloured horse and pony of the year championship.
Rhianon Loader was elated to win her first Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) final riding Stephanie Fitt’s home-bred seven-year-old Castra (Cassie).
The beautiful non-native pony winner didn’t put a hair out of place during the championship, all while showcasing her floating paces and ability to lower and go during the gallop.
The classes, sponsored by the Coloured Horse and Pony Society (UK), were judged by Mathew Lawrence (conformation) and Polly Mallender (ride/show). In the championship, the pair agreed completely on their champion.
“She was full of quality,” said Polly, who was making her HOYS judging debut. “If she were a solid colour, she would more than hold her own in riding pony classes.”
