Nivetha Pethuraj may just be a few films old but she is already winning the hearts of the audience with her gorgeous looks, impeccable hold on the language, acting skills and a grounded attitude that are sure to take her high in the cinema industry.
Nivetha Pethuraj was born in Madurai and grew up in Tuticorin before shifting bases to the Dubai. Initially she started her career in front of the camera as a model. She even went on to win the Miss India UAE pageant, but pat came the movie Oru Naal Koothu and the enchanting song “Adiye Azhage” which led her back to her roots in Tamilnadu and into the hearts of the audience. She mentions that “Adiye Azhage” was a very important song in her career which catapulted her to stardom overnight. The character Kavya was a brilliant take on modern day youngsters in relationships which resonated well with the younger crowd and there has been no looking back ever since. “I have to thank Nelson, the director and Justin Prabhakaran, the music director who made me such a big phenomenon with just one movie and a song.” she adds.
After Oru Naal Koothu, Nivetha went on to act in Podhuvaaga Emmanasu Thangam which had Udayanidhi Stalin in the lead. The movie was set in a rural backdrop and didn’t do very well at the box office as expected. But she is not one to be defeated by a few setbacks, “My head is always in the game. My job is to act and I always give my best to all the movies. If a movie doesn’t work, it is for various reasons and I can’t get demotivated by that. Another thing I have realised about the Tamil audience since coming into cinema is that, once they give you a place in their heart, they will keep loving you irrespective of your movie choices and whether they do well or not.”
