They're three of the fiercest females in the Kiwi entertainment world, and now Jackie Clarke, Jennifer Ward-Lealand and Laura Daniel have teamed up to form a fabulous girl group set to knock your socks off!
As part of the Auckland Live Cabaret Season, the talented trio star in Rock Follies Forever, an ode to the cult British TV series Rock Follies, which chronicled the ups and downs of three tough broads climbing the ladder to rock superstardom in the 1970s.
Woman’s Day chats to entertainer extraordinaire Jackie, 55, stage icon Jennifer, 58, and comedy queen Laura, 31, about their rock ’n’ roll dreams and diva demands…
If you were a rock star, what would be on your backstage rider?
Jennifer: My own space – somewhere warm with comfy chairs, a fridge full of goodies, a masseur and my cats.
Jackie: What do you mean? I am a rock star! But if I was an international mega-superstar, I’d request a steam room and teppanyaki bar.
Laura: A Veuve Clicquot fridge with all the sizes of bottles, a spa pool in the shape of a love heart and a cat tower full of cats.
And what do you actually demand in real life?
Jennifer: A toilet nearby, water, a rug on the floor – essential when you’re in a cold dressing room – and decent lighting over the mirror.
Jackie: Water, a clothes rack, proximity to the toilet and some nice wine.
