With 30 of her own hairpieces and plenty more to give to charity, Sue Hollway has a wig for every occasion

Fans of Schitt’s Creek, the beloved Netflix comedy, will be familiar with Catherine O’Hara’s delightfully eccentric wig-collecting Moira Rose and her “girls”.

Now meet Australia’s own Moira, Sydney’s Sue Hollway.

Sue has 30 of her own “girls” at home, with her wig collection rivaling Moira’s legendary ladies. And she even goes one better, helping send wigs to women in need.

Working with US support group Sister to Sister – Blessed with Hair! to Share, and Australia and New Zealand Hair Loss Support Group for Women – and the teams who run them – Sue distributes wigs to Aussie women who want them.

“The group started in America and Wendy, who runs it, is the most wonderful person,” says Sue, 73. “She has a full-time job, and she spends half her time refurbishing wigs, and it’s just got bigger and bigger, so we started doing it here.

“Now people who have them, or who had wigs and have since not needed them because their hair’s grown back, are starting to donate, so it’s starting to take off in the Australian group as well. This box arrived about three weeks ago, with 50 wigs, all jammed in!
