Making A Mark

With Indian heritage inspiring her designs, Jhunjhun Jain is turning the humble cork into lifestyle products that are alluring, functional and ingenious.

Last year was a landmark one for Delhi-based product designer Jhunjhun Jain and her brand Outlin’d. In September, she debuted a collection of 10 cork-based lifestyle products at the prestigious London Design Festival. Comprising of coasters, placemats, a wine glass stand, bottle tray, a bookstand and bookmarks amongst other items, the pieces were crafted entirely from raw cork and featured intricate hand-drawn illustrations of jharokas, minars, stepwells and arches made more permanent via a burning technique developed by her.
