The story of life Langotem Diaries

Volume 7 Issue 3

They say that each home has a story. That each dwelling speaks volumes of the kind of people that live there, the laughter they share and the life that they build. So when we travelled south and explored pristine Varca, we found ourselves wide eyed and wonder filled with the story of Langotem Bungalows.

The story of life Langotem Diaries

TO truly appreciate the story of Langotem you have to read the original version. The one put together by the evergreen couple who moved mountains to make it happen, Bharati and Anshuk Kumar. This is their story…

“One London evening in mid 2007, my wife and I looked at our newborn daughter, and then at each other, bewildered. That look resulted in a decision to leave our hectic corporate lives in New York and London, to spend more time together as a family and explore new dimensions in life and living. After 24 years in New York City, we picked India as our next home. A few exploratory trips later we were headed to South Goa in fall 2008.

Why South Goa? Well... not so much for what it was, but more for what it wasn’t. It wasn’t the now unfamiliar and teeming Delhi, Calcutta, and Bombay. It wasn’t too close and it wasn’t too far from the familiar. The South still had clean palm-fringed beaches, lush green interiors and charming paddy villages. And, if needed, urban fixes were a short drive or flight away.

Our plan was simple. We would rent initially, during which time we would find and buy a charming house with a view. After four months we abandoned this search, as we just could not find anything that we liked by way of architectural design, construction quality, fit and finish.
