Introduction

Seaweeds are one of nature’s true wonder of foods! They are one of the most nutritionally dense plants on the planet and also the most abundant source of minerals in the plant kingdom as they have access to all the nutrients in the ocean. The word weed means “misnomer of marine plants”. Being a super food, a little goes a long way! When it comes to superfood, we typically think of ingredients that have epic nutritional benefits vitamin packed foods etc. But what if there was a food that was a powerful on your plate as it was for the planet. Seaweed is a marine plant, also called as algae, which can be found in lakes, rivers, and other water bodies. Green algae, red algae and brown algae are the types of seaweed. Some are edible while others are not. They are simple, non-flowering and typically aquatic plant which contain chlorophyll but lack true stem, roots, leaves and vascular tissue.
