Malinga's Late Burst Sees Indians Home

“It was a funny IPL final – we were just passing the trophy to each other.”
MS Dhoni summed it up best after his Chennai Super Kings side were denied back-to-back IPL crowns by the Mumbai Indians on Sunday.
The hero in the end was Lasith Malinga – the veteran using all of his experience in the final over to get the Indians over the line.
It was a dramatic one-run victory for the Indians but in truth, it was a final lacking in quality.
That was summed up by Malinga himself, who had gone for 42 runs from his first three overs.
But his last one made the difference – the Kings needed nine to win and Shane Watson looked like he was going to be the man to lift himself above the sea of mediocrity around him.
However, he ran himself out chasing a suicidal second and a classic Malinga slower ball of the last ball, with the Kings needing two to win, trapped Shardul Thakur in front and the Indians could celebrate a fourth title.
