While Indian cricketers have always been known for their charity work, most of them, be it Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, former India captain, MS Dhoni, or the current Indian captain, Virat Kohli, have made donations via trusts or by some foundations. But Irfan Pathan has been different. He not only donates but makes sure that the donation reaches the person it is meant for.

Irfan Pathan came to know about the plight of Indian Premier League (IPL)’s side Chennai Super Kings’ official cobbler, Bhaskaran, after reading a well-written piece on him in ESPNcricinfo. Irfan, who was signed by the franchise in 2015 made an effort on his part and from arranging his number to depositing Rs 25,000 into his account, making sure that Bhaskaran is not left stranded because of the lockdown.

This effort of the junior Pathan came to the fore because of the pandemic; however, there was a similar case last year which was not known until Laxman tweeted about it.
