IPL 2021: Records Scripted In The RR Vs DC Encounter

Rajasthan Royals beat the Delhi Capitals in a low-scoring thriller in match number seven of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Royals chased down 148 as million dollar man Chris Morris finished the game in the final over against his former recruits. Credit should also be given to middle-order batsman David Miller (62), who set the foundation of their win. Notably, this marked the first victory for skipper Sanju Samson, who was appointed RR skipper ahead of the IPL 2021 season. Delhi Capitals had a terrible start after Sanju Samson elected to field first. DC were reduced to 37/4 before skipper Rishabh Pant played a solid innings. A defiant half-century by him brought DC back, however, he was run out which allowed RR to come back into the match. The star-studded DC outfit was restricted to 147/8 in 20 overs. For Royals, left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat, who was left out for Rajasthan’s opening encounter, emerged as the standout bowler. His notable variations ended up being problematic for the DC batsmen. Meanwhile, Unadkat picked up three wickets for 15 runs. He clocked an impressive economy rate of 3.80. In reply, RR were reduced to 36/4 as the DC pacers ran riot. Soon it became 42/5 before David Miller single-handedly kept going. After his dismissal, Morris slammed 36 from 18 deliveries, hitting four sixes. He won the game for RR in style.
MILLER MAGIC
Middle-order batsman Miller played an incredible knock. He wasn’t troubled like the others and played shots everywhere. He slammed his 10th IPL fifty, and finished with a 43-ball 62. Interestingly, Miller hit the first six of the match in the 16th over. He followed it up with another one before being out. The South African went past the 1,900-run mark in the competition (1,912) and is the 42nd batsman to achieve this feat.
