The IPL auction for the 2021 season was held in February, where most franchises made an effort to strengthen their squads. Among batsmen, Glenn Maxwell was a massive purchase, bought by Royals Challengers Bangalore for INR 14.25 crore, despite his no show last season for Punjab Kings. Further, allrounder Moeen Ali, who can hit the ball a long way, was purchased by Chennai Super Kings for INR 7 crore. Every year, there are some fantastic batting performances in the IPL, and the edition’s leading run-scorer is awarded the Orange Cap. The Aussie opener just loves playing in the IPL. David Warner, in fact, holds the record for having won the Orange Cap most times - three. The Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper amassed 562 runs in 2015, 641 in 2017, and 692 in 2019. Even last season, when it seemed like Warner was actually struggling for rhythm, he still managed to amass 548 runs in 16 games, and was, in fact, the third leading run-getter in the season. Warner’s ability to smash the ball can be matched by few cricketers in the modern-day game, which explains his success in the IPL year after year.
