It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Kings XI Punjab have been a massive let-down in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite having talented players in their team over the years, KXIP have somehow failed to come up with the goods. Even the likes of Virender Sehwag, Adam Gilchrist and Kumar Sangakkara could not turn around KXIP’s fortunes. Only twice have they come close to winning the contest -- reaching the semi-finals in 2008 and in 2014 when they finished runners-up. In all the other editions, they were eliminated in the league stage. Here’s a detailed analysis of KXIP’s IPL 2020 squad.

STRENGTHS: RAHUL AND MAXWELL’S SCINTILLATING FORM

If KXIP are to do well in this year’s edition, they will need their two form players to stand up and deliver. KL Rahul has been appointed captain on the back of some fantastic international performances.

Rahul was the standout performer as India thrashed New Zealand 5-0 in the T20Is. He amassed 224 runs in five matches and was the man of the series. He followed it up with 88 not out and 112 in the ODIs.
