For James Forrest, Every Goal In Green And White Is As Important As The Next And Last

IN April, James Forrest sunk Rangers with a late winner at Paradise en route to eight-in-a-row.

Against Rosenborg in 2017, he rifled his side into the group-stages of the Champions League, and in 2013, his decisive strike against Shakhter Karagandy secured a win that Neil Lennon considered his greatest footballing achievement to that point.

Simply put, James Forrest scores important, campaign-altering goals. And while his extra-time winner against Dunfermline on Saturday was arguably less glamourous than the goals listed above, it is no less vital in the Hoops’ bid to win the League Cup for a fourth successive season.

Although assisting twice for Ryan Christie during Celtic’s 7-0 win over St Johnstone on Flag Day, Forrest wasn’t among the five scorers on the day. However, he’s since found the net in each of the four subsequent games, and his first of the 2019/20 campaign – Celtic’s only goal in their 1-1 draw with CFR Cluj in Romania – means he’s now scored in 11 consecutive campaigns.
