RHIANNA PARRIS-SMITH ‘A YEAR OF CHAOS AND CULTURAL CHANGE'

In her final Fitness Project update, track sprinter Rhianna reflects on a challenging but transformative six months
-

So here it is, I’m sad to say, my final Fitness Project update. I’ve loved being a Project participant but it’s been a strange, chaotic kind of year for me as I’ve squeezed in training around work and university. It took a long time just to get back into normal routines after Covid derailed everything in 2020. Top of my list of habits to reinstate was training on the track at least twice a week, which I’ve only just achieved over the last few weeks.
On a more positive note, I have managed to do all but one of the races I planned at the start of the year – I committed fully to them all and I’m making no excuses. Looking at the big picture, I’m happy, as I’ve stayed aboard the ‘gain train’. Sure, I could have progressed further, but that’s life – obstacles crop up along the way.
