Heavy rain whips Capital, triggers flooding, traffic jams and politics

The National Capital received its first spell of heavy rainfall on Sunday morning, which brought relief to the people from the scorching heat and humidity. However, waterlogging brought traffic to a standstill in several areas of Delhi-NCR.

Several vehicles were seen submerged under the Minto Road Bridge, near Connaught Place. Delhi Fire Service personnel rescued the driver and the conductor of a DTC bus, the people on board, and an auto driver from the waterlogged underpass. Meanwhile, a house collapsed in the slum area of Anna Nagar near ITO due to heavy rains. The house collapsed as a portion of the road along it caved-in following heavy rains in the National Capital.
