Security Rules For VVIPs See Tweaks

The Centre has taken a measure to streamline the security cover accorded to the Special Protection Group (SPG) protectees, according to sources.

The SPG, which provides proximate protection to protectee, has been issued fresh guidelines by the Centre.

As per the guidelines, when protectee travels abroad, it will now be mandatory for the SPG personnel to accompany them at all times. In case this is not acceptable to the protectee, the government could curtail their foreign visits on account of security considerations, the sources added.
