The NSA was mandated to restore peace by both PM Modi and Amit Shah

Contrary to the belief that Prime Minister Narendra Modi roped in National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval to contain the violence in Delhi as an indictment of both the Delhi Police and the home ministry, reliable sources have told India Today TV that Union Home Minister Amit Shah was not only on-board with the decision, but was key to roping in Doval.

The NSA was mandated to restore peace and normalcy in northeast district by both the PM and the home minister. Doval, sources say, was roped in to raise the morale of the Delhi Police.

Both the PM and Shah were kept apprised of the situation on Delhi violence. But sources said despite the hands-on approach, Delhi Police failed to take appropriate action.
