Flight Lieutenant Leslie Harvey was one of The Few who took to the skies 80 years ago to see off an airborne invasion from the Nazis.
Later in the war, his aircraft went into a spin and caught fire over Libya after being taken out by an Me 109 in a dogfight.
He jumped from his plane and survived the landing.
