It’s made for a good start for Johnson – who has won promotion from this division with Yeovil Town and Cheltenham Town – despite the supporters being locked out of National League games.
And he says the players have their fans firmly in their minds when they’re on the pitch – even if they’ve had to lend their voices to Johnson’s post-match tradition.
“We got a little bit used to it during lockdown because we watched the Premier League games and the German games with no crowds so it wasn’t a total shock to the system,” Johnson told The NLP.
