Invicta missed and scored second-half penalties and eventually edged home thanks to an own goal, seeing off a late Hornets rally to seal the victory.
Delighted Invicta boss Neil Cugley admitted to some relief at his side’s win. He told The NLP: “I thought that we started the game very slowly and were fortunate not to fall behind.
“But we were really good at the start of the second half and then got our goals.
“It was then disappointing to concede a goal which brought them back into the game.
“Neither side has been at their best recently but it was an entertaining, if nervy, match.”
