Platt helps Sporting go top

AN INSPIRED performance from goal-keeper Daniel Platt and Leon Broadhurst’s header guided Bromsgrove Sporting to victory over Tamworth, putting them top of the league.

The top-of-the-table clash saw its only goal in the 58th minute, as a Greg Mills free-kick was headed into the path of Broadhurst by a Tamworth defender, allowing him to convert at the back post.

And Bromsgrove manager Bren Kelly expressed his delight at the result.

He said: “It’s a massive win. Our goalkeeper was outstanding and gave us the platform to win. I can’t stop smiling!”

The first chance of the game fell to Tamworth, as Dan Creaney beat the offside trap but saw a one-on-one saved by Platt.
