RELATIONSHIPS. Millennials always seem to be on the look-out yet seldom find themselves in one. Ever wondered why? Dating has evolved. It has become a totally different world since our parent’s time. With new rules and new terminologies, I don’t think anyone really has the time to catch up. And millennials are rewriting the rules of relationships.

Texting: Our voices used to be the only way of getting to know someone. Back in the day, people probably waited close to the land line hoping that when it rang it would be the apple of their eye on the other end. Now we all have cell phones. We can see who is calling and know that the person answering our call, is the person we have been waiting to talk to. However, millennials prefer text. A form of communication where tones are misread, answers keeping getting shorter due to abbreviations, people suffer anxiety from awaiting a response and no one really gets to know anyone. Yet, this is how millennials communicate romantically in today’s world.

Commitment is a thing of the past! Most single people will tell you that their biggest roadblock is that they cannot find partners who want to commit to them. With dating apps urging you to swipe right easily and terms like “friends with benefits” being an actual set up amongst partners, commitment has become difficult to come across. Is the new millennial rule for relationships going to be “let’s go with the flow, till there’s reason to commit”? Yet, many still believe in monogamy and have to face the brunt of how things have shifted.
