Why Cricket Is Not Part of Olympics?

Cricket is played in few countries across the globe and despite the best of efforts from the ICC, the big countries have kept themselves away from cricket.

Cricket is a religion and cricketers are worshipped like gods in the Asian sub-continent. When it comes to this sport, the masses can leave anything for the sake of a game of their particular team. From World Cups to Test battle, bilateral series to Champions Trophy, we have seen a lot in cricket but there is still one dream which is yet to be fulfilled for every cricket fanatic. Despite trying hard, the game of cricket has not been made part of the Olympics since decades. It should be noted that cricket was played in the 1900 Summer Olympics on August 19 and 20 at Velodrome de Vincennes in France with Great Britain winning the gold medal defeating France. Today France, which had won the silver medal then, is just an associate member nation playing in the European Cricket Council tournaments. It is the biggest sporting extravaganza in the world and winning a medal over here is the proudest moment of anyone’s career. Fans and cricket authorities have urged International Olympic association to consider their plea of including the sport in the calendar but the result has been negative despite a lot of assurance. There are couple of reasons which are responsible for the long ignorance of cricket from the Olympics. Here are few reasons why cricket has not got entry in the Olympics?
