Can any of you remember 1976? I have blurry recollections of a very hot summer and a hosepipe ban and that’s about it. Harold Wilson then James Callaghan were Prime Ministers. Concorde took its first commercial flight and Anita Roddick opened her first Body Shop. 

It was also the year that the Ford Fiesta was launched. 41 years later and Concorde may have gone but we’re having a very hot summer, the Body Shop is still in the centre of Truro and you’ll still see many a Ford Fiesta on the roads of Cornwall. 

In fact it’s the best selling car in the UK and you can see why. It’s familiar. It’s affordable and as sales indicate, year on year, it’s very popular. 

The first thing to grab my attention with the car I drove, was the colour. Called Bohai Bay Mint (where do they get these names?), the colour is immediately arresting, and not to my taste. As an owner of some 20 odd cars, I have had many silver and black coloured cars, and the occasional white one, back in my youth. Safe colours, you may assume.
