General aging, hormone changes, and menopause can all play a role in nutrition needs. In general, a healthy, balanced diet will meet most of a woman’s nutritional needs as she ages, but there are a few adjustments that women can make to ensure optimal health from middle age to later years.

As they age, women typically need less calories, but it’s important to have a healthy balance. Too few calories per day can actually lead to a higher risk for poor health and malnutrition, so it’s important for women to ensure they are getting an adequate amount of calories.
