A Touch Of Nostalgia

Kodak may have exited the consumer camera business a few years ago, but the feeling of “It’s a Kodak moment”, still lives on.

 Bullitt Group is the global licensee for Kodak and after launching the Kodak Ektra in Europe last year, the phone has made its way into the Indian market. But is the Kodak name and strong focus on the camera enough for consumers to go with the Ektra?

Design and Build Quality

It goes without saying that Ektra stands out from the barrage of phones available in the market. It may not be sleek at 14mm, but the design makes it look like a compact point-and-shoot camera. The display covers the whole front along with touch sensitive menu and home buttons, but it is the back that makes the Ektra special. It comes with Kodak’s signature leather finish and a big 21MP sensor at the back. Interestingly, there’s no fingerprint sensor on the phone, which would have made sense if the competition was not doing it but in 2017 that looks like a glaring omission.

There is also a lanyard loophole, just like you have for a point-and-shoot camera and a dedicated shutter button. It seems Bullitt has designed to please the Kodak fans and we would say they have done a good job.
