‘SIX MONTHS?!’ says the shop assistant as she zips up my dress with white-gloved hands. I’m in Savvy Brides in Sydney, and I’ve just revealed how many months until my wedding day. And, clearly, it’s the wrong answer.

Before I get into all the mistakes I made leading up to my big day (and there were a few of them), let me be honest.

When our editor asked me to write a story about things I wished I’d done differently, I remembered the disasters and tears like they were yesterday.

I say this because I don’t want to lie: you’ll never forget the things that went wrong on your wedding day. But you’ll also never forget how happy you were the entire day, despite every single one of them.
