Advertisers and the food industry perpetuate the idea that processed food is healthy and nourishing. You probably know by now that this is completely untrue, but in case you still aren’t sure what to skip, let’s go through some of my favourite ‘foods I love to hate’!

Did you know that, owing to poor dietary habits among people who can afford to eat better, there is now an explosion of disease? We’re talking about Alzheimer’s, diabetes and cancers of every description, but particularly of the digestive system. Young people born after 1980 are four times more likely to develop colon cancer than those born before 1950. Three in 10 people under 55 will develop rectal cancers, and double the number of young people will develop tumours in their colon. We’re facing a crisis, and it’s the young who are most at risk.

It doesn’t take much to figure out that these digestive diseases are due to the poor quality of food eaten today, in place of the much healthier sustenance of a few decades ago. The fast-food culture and excessive intake of sugar, sodas, artificial sweeteners, ‘comfort’ food, processed or genetically modified food, chemicals, hormones, antibiotics in animal products, fake meat products, low-fibre foods and caffeine, plus smoking and alcohol abuse, are all part of the modern lifestyle and are considered the norm by most people under the age of 40. But this has to change.

The problem is, many so-called ‘healthy foods’ aren’t good for you, and should be completely avoided. Here’s why.
