Energy efficient homes is a relatively new concept for homeowners. In the past, our homes have been ventilated by natural air infiltration, taking place through single-pane windows, poorly sealed doors and low levels of loft insulation facilitating the movement of air. In recent years there has been a push to improve the efficiency of our dwellings through insulating cavity walls and roofspaces. This, coupled with double or even triple glazed windows and doors with airtight seals is providing homeowners with cosier homes. But this coziness comes at a price, and that price can be poor indoor air quality leading to health issues and the creation of mould and condensation on indoor surfaces.
