‘We Revived This Rundown Coach House'

Susan Doherty and Tom Moore sympathetically renovated and extended this dilapidated old building to create a modern, three-bedroom home

Susan and Tom were looking to move from their Georgian flat in Edinburgh to a property with a garden when a friend’s recommendation led them to local architect Matthew Johnson of A449 Architects, who had acquired a stable and coach house. As soon as the couple saw the plans that Matthew had in mind for it, they bought the property. ‘We liked the materials and features proposed, especially the burnt larch exterior cladding,’ says Susan. ‘The proposed size of the building was ideal for our needs, too.’
