For The Freshest South African Design Talent, Look No Further Than These New Kids On The Block.

On The Rise

JESSE EDE

A designer, maker, crafter and artist who is drawn to seemingly ‘unfinished’ natural materials, Jesse is the co-owner of Jesse James, a Cape Town based initiative that delivers tailored design solutions for homes, spaces and brands.

What’s your favourite material?

At present, aluminium – it’s so lightweight, malleable and easy to work with.

Is there such a thing as ‘South African style’?

Of course! It feels like we South Africans are severing all ties with European and American influences and really celebrating our culture.

What’s ugly?

Nothing. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Who is your design hero?

My late artisan father, who taught me the foundations of the skills I have today. jessejames.co.za
