Enter True Tramm Trunk in Mumbai for an experience like no other — op art and surrealistic design elements come together to leave you in a tizzy much before you enter a state of inebriation which inspired the very design of this hotspot.

Dizzy By Design

True Tramm Trunk… the name itself is intriguing enough to explore this newest addition to Mumbai’s nightlife. Located in the commercial hub, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), the lounge bar is the second outlet in this megacity. Designed by the gifted interior designer Minnie Bhatt — who has worked on many F&B outlets across Mumbai — True Tramm Trunk is apparently a drunken take on 'too damn drunk'. “The clients’ brief was to create a space that was a notch or two above the Juhu outlet as this one was located in BKC, a high profile business district. The concept needed to come through visually, yet subtly. It was to be a casual, well-priced bar that appealed to a younger audience yet was conducive to an older age group as well,” says Minnie. Since the designer had already worked with the promoters Ankit Anand and Prashant Chaudhri, on three projects — the two outlets of Fable, Myxx and the terrace of True Tramm Trunk, Juhu — prior to this project, they happily left the scene after giving Minnie the initial brief.

The inspiration for this branch of True Tramm Trunk was offered on a platter, but this did not mean that the conceptualization and execution of the design were a cakewalk. “The name informed the design concept — how people see things when totally drunk. We were very excited to create a surreal space with random design elements. We chose to work with wireframes as a design concept as things created with it are visually there and yet not,” Minnie explains.
