The imminent arrival of their second child spurred Kelly and Ed Smithson to move from a two-bedroom house in London to a property more suitable for raising their family. ‘We were desperate to have a good-sized garden and we needed to be near the train for Ed’s commute,’ explains Kelly. ‘I grew up near Guildford and I fancied living there again. There are so many shops and restaurants and it’s surrounded by countryside.’
