Get body confident in just one month – lose half a stone and see your tum flatten with our easy healthy eating plan
HOW IT WORKS
It’s so simple! Just choose a breakfast, lunch and dinner each day and add a snack and an indulgence from the list.
Drink right you can drink herbal tea, ordinary tea and coffee in abundance, as well as diet drinks and water. limit fruit juice to one 150ml serving per day in addition to your meal selections (it’s acidic and can cause bloating, as well as being high in calories). Alcohol comes off your indulgence allowance (see p55).
Eat regularly Have breakfast every day and a snack during the afternoon to prevent blood sugar dips; being over-hungry means that you’ll invariably end up overeating.
Give yourself a treat We’ve included everything from crusty ciabatta to wine and even chocolate. Research has shown that if you tell yourself you can’t have something, you crave it more and end up gorging on it. So while the bulk of the diet’s made up of nutritious stuff, we haven’t left you short of treats.
Eat right to flatten your tum
Some foods are definitely more tum-friendly than others. We’ve kept fatty foods to a minimum as they slow down digestion leaving you very bloated; lots of red meat takes a long time for the body to break down, so that can leave you with a distended feeling too.
Hold the salt Water retention takes its toll everywhere from tum to tops of arms, so if you want to avoid that puffy feeling, cut down on salt, which can cause and exacerbate water retention.
Up your intake of caffeine to take advantage of its diuretic effects but you don’t need to go crazy – if you’re not a fan of coffee, a cup of green tea should do the job equally well.
Eat small and often one of the most common causes of bloating is overeating, so keep a check on those portion sizes.
