When was Aerospace and Aviation Sector Skill Council (AASSC) started? What is its motive?
AASSC was incorporated as a Section 8 Company (under Companies Act 2013) on 12th September 2014. The promoters of the company are Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bangalore Chamber of Industries & Commerce (BCIC) and Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies & Industries (SIATI).
Aerospace and Aviation Sector Skill Council (AASSC) is a body set-up under the Government-led initiative of “Skill India” to train Indian workforce. This is one of the various Sector Skill Councils formed under National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
The vision of Aerospace and Aviation Sector Skill Council is to bridge the gap between demand and supply of skilled manpower in the sector in segments like Design & Development, Aerospace Manufacturing, Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO), Airline Operations and Airports. In order to achieve this ambitious target, AASSC has been involving all stakeholders – Government, companies, regulatory bodies, research establishments, academic institutes and training providers.
What streams of Aviation & Aerospace sector are added to AASSC after you took over the position as its CEO?
As indicated earlier, AASSC primarily was started keeping the 5 subsectors in mind as indicated above, but Drones/UAVS are a fast-emerging subsector in the field of Aviation and Aerospace.
