Meet Bhavya Ramesh, founder of an eponymous jewellery label that is here to break all the norms and bring the best and unique, just like these nail crowns that are fierce, feminine, and quirky. For Bhavya, more than a brand, Bhavya Ramesh has been a means of self-expression. Bhavya did extensive research and found that nail guards in ancient China were a sign of power and beauty which represented noble ranking. Studded with pearls, shells, and glided metal these unique guards became her source of inspiration, which were further engineered to perfection with her creative instincts, where she lets all the shapes and forms of life take space in her head and she play with them. In a free-wheeling conversation with TMM, Bhavya, with a background in engineering talks about her process, jewellery as an art, and how pandemic has shown the importance of a digital presence more than ever.

ART OF NAIL CROWNS

As a designer, when it comes to designing jewelry, I’m always trying to discover new products that can be refreshing to the typical segments of jewelry. To say the least, I gave into the nail trend. Nails this year are decadent to the point where a function is forgettable. To be frank, it wasn’t very hard to imagine Pearls and Kundan jewelling up nails - that’s when the idea of nail caps started shaping up. I always imagined a lady in high heels pleasured by the idea of caressing a tiger as the ideal adorned of nail crowns.
