Nonnatus House is invaluable to the new mums of Poplar but, as Call the Midwife concludes this week, its future looks under threat.

Sister Julienne (Jenny Agutter) is saddened to learn that funding has been halved, as investment goes into expanding the maternity wards at St Cuthbert’s. With the threat of demolition also hanging over them, the rent is rising and if they don’t pay, they’ll have to leave!
