With a home in New South Wales, plus an Australian partner and citizenship, actress Miriam Margolyes is better qualified than most British celebs to embark on a travelogue Down Under.

This week, in the new three-part series Miriam Margolyes Almost Australian, the irrepressible Call the Midwife star hits the road in a motorhome on a two-month, 10,000km mission to find out more about the Australian dream and what it means to different people around the country –from Alice Springs to the Tiwi Islands.

You first visited Australia in 1980. Did it live up to your expectations?
