Philomena Cunk star Diane Morgan on her new comedy about a woman trying to achieve her dreams...
Diane Morgan’s big break came as disarmingly guileless pundit Philomena Cunk on satire show Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe, but with her new BBC2 comedy Mandy, she proves that her own wit is equally razor-sharp.
As well as starring, Morgan wrote and directed the six-part series, which follows on from last year’s comedy short. Then, Mandy went to ludicrous lengths to get the money to buy a sofa she really wanted. In the new 15-minute episodes, cash-strapped Mandy tries to land a job, win a line-dancing endurance contest and even participate in one last heist.
TV&Satellite Week spoke to Morgan, 44, who also stars in Motherland and After Life, to find out more…
Where did the inspiration for Mandy come from?
