10 Easy Ways To Help Wildlife In Your Neighbourhood

1. Don’t drop litter – this is harmful to wildlife and farm animals. Animals can digest litter causing internal damage, or they can become trapped in a bottle or can. Dispose of litter safely and you are already saving lives. Always pick up bits of string that often attract birds for nesting material. This can end up with fledglings being trapped inside the nest. String wound around growing legs often deform them.
2. Always have a shallow dish of fresh water for wildlife, particularly in hot weather. Bird tables need to be cleaned on a regular basis to stop cross infection. You will get more birds in your garden if you have shrubs and hedges for small birds to hide in.
3. If you have a pond in your garden make sure you have a sloping side so hedgehogs can climb out if they fall in.
