A Native American fairy tale
Once upon a time a little orphan boy lived with his aunt by a river. They lived all alone and had no neighbours. The little boy wanted to take his boat and sail across the river to the other side, for he knew that people lived on the other side and he had often heard the joyful shouts of children playing by the river bank.
One day he asked his aunt, ‘Aunt, may I take the boat and sail to the other side of the river? I would like to see if people do really live there.’ His aunt smiled sadly. ‘Dear, I do not think the people living on the other side would like to see you.’ But the boy insisted and his aunt agreed. The little boy sailed to the other side. But as his aunt had said, the people living on the other side of the river were not very pleased to see the little boy.
