A brother broken

The truth is out about baby Mvelo’s paternity and there are grave consequences for Sibusiso after his brother Thabo discovers his ultimate betrayal.

Some secrets are better left untold. Case in point? Gynae- cologist Precious Dlamini’s (Lihle Dhlomo) trail of deceit that catches up to her when season 1 of Durban Gen comes to a close this fortnight.

After months of hiding in plain sight, Precious faces her fears when her surgeon husband Thabo (Meshack Mavuso) unexpectedly arrives at the hospital, drunk, with a gun in hand and he demands answers about her affair with his brother Sibusiso (Ntando Mncube) that transpired early this year and resulted in their son Mvelo. Lihle reveals that Thabo forces Precious and Sibusiso into a corner. “He refuses to back down until Precious and Sibusiso come clean about their affair and Mvelo’s paternity. It’s a mess,” says the actress, adding that Thabo’s confrontation ends in a tragic death.

CAT’S OUT THE BAG

Precious intended to reveal the truth to Thabo at some point. But her fears would always get the better of her. She even went as far as holding her former bestie Zandile (Sthandwa Nzuza) hostage in late September to stop Zandile from exposing her secret. Zandile managed to untie herself and she recently escaped from the hospital storeroom. To get back at Precious, Zandile finds Thabo in a drunken state, and she tells him that he isn’t Mvelo’s biological father. “Thabo is in disbelief,” says Lihle, adding that because the surgeon is infertile, he was aware that he can’t be Mvelo’s father. “It just never crossed his mind that his brother Sibusiso would have sex with his wife and father the son that Thabo come to accept as his,” adds Lihle.
