A One-Time Affair?

Ndabezinhle lands in a one-night stand with a new intern, but the evening proves to be more than she can handle.

We’re three months into the new year and timid medical intern Ndabezinhle Luthuli (Lerato Nxumalo) has gone through an entire decade already. “Lately she has had a lot on her plate,” says Lerato. Ndabezinhle is still struggling with the guilt of having two patients die under her watch late last year. “Both deaths triggered a past tragic memory and she suffered a mental breakdown in February this year, forcing her to check into a psychiatric ward for a couple of days,” adds the actress.

But Ndabezinhle’s recovery could be in vain after a one-night hook-up with new arrival and conceited surgical intern Mandla Ngcobo (Thulane Shange, Thulani from 2019 in soapie Uzalo, 2015-now, see more page 20-21). “Mandla supports Ndabezinhle in her time of need,” says Lerato. “The pair give into their lust and rash actions could cause further emotional strain to Ndabezinhle after she learns shocking information about Mandla.”

COMING TO BLOWS

As if Ndabezinhle’s personal life hasn’t taken enough of a hit, she’s confronted with another fiasco this fortnight: her co-worker Thandekile Zondo (Fanele Ntuli) is intimidated by Ndabezinhle’s progress. “Thandekile digs into her past, says Lerato, “And she finds out all about Ndabezinhle’s secrets and what she has been running from for years.”
