AS a high-school basketball star, Jack (Affleck) had it all. Yet his troubled relationship with his dad led him to give up a prestigious college scholarship out of spite — and his life never quite matched up to his potential.

Years later, Jack is a construction worker struggling with depression and a drinking problem. He can’t seem to clean up his act until he gets a surprising call: His alma mater is unexpectedly in need of a basketball coach, and they want him to take on the challenge.
