Steffy’s guilt over sleeping with Bill kicks into overdrive when, during a trip to see Dr. Campbell, Steffy learns that she is pregnant. At first, both she and Liam are ecstatic over the news. “This is totally unexpected because Steffy has had fertility issues for years,” points out Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy). “She was told years ago that she could never get pregnant again. It devastated her and was part of the reason why she left town [in 2013]. But then, she later learned that may not have necessarily been true, so she was never really sure what to believe. But after her miscarriage, Steffy believed that she’d never be able to get pregnant again, so this news truly catches her off-guard.”
