You two came to Mumbai to pursue acting. What made you take up music as a career?
Manmeet: We never came to pursue acting. We just wanted to be musicians though I started enjoying acting a lot while I was doing it. I wanted to give it a shot because I used to love acting but we knew it was never going to be our career. It was more like something I wanted to try and Harmeet was very adamant about doing an album. But we have no filmi background, we did not know anybody in this city. So coming out on your own with an album was a very big thing. There was no YouTube then, there was one music label which would release the album which meant they would have to put almost a crore on you. Why would anybody put so much money on us? But Harmeet said ‘Let’s keep trying’. He used to randomly call people up, I had no idea who he was calling up. He used to keep fixing meetings with studios and tell me, let’s meet some people and let’s figure out what’s happening. So this is how our song came out and we gave up acting because acting was never supposed to be our career.
