Sanjay Dutt, Still Getting Used To Freedom

As Kanhaiya Kumar delivered his fiery “Azaadi” slogan at the India Today Conclave 2016, actor Sanjay Dutt sat a few steps away in the speaker’s lounge, eager to speak about his own azaadi after 23 years. That fateful day in January 1993 that turned his life around is finally behind him. Dutt was convicted under the Arms Act for having in his possession an AK-56 rifle in the aftermath of the Bombay blasts and was sentenced to five years in prison. In what was his first visit to Delhi since his release on February 25 from the Yerawada Central Jail in Pune, Dutt recollected his ordeal in prison, where apart from radio jockeying for Radio YCP, making plastic bags, using buckets of water as dumb bells and bed sheets to do isometric exercises, he also swore that he would never eat the leafy vegetable Rajgira ever again.
