SUPERSTAR Michael Jackson appeared to shower his chimpanzee pal Bubbles with love, attention and gifts, but in a bombshell revelation, sources say the ape was beaten and so miserable he tried to kill himself!

Now 38 years old, Bubbles lives in the Center for Great Apes in Wauchula, Fla., a retirement home for orangutans and chimps who’ve been in showbiz, where he occasionally turns out prized paintings.

Adopted by the King of Pop as a baby in 1992, Bubbles spent the first 12 years of his life as the inseparable companion of the Thriller singer.

Jacko dragged Bubbles with him everywhere, restaurants, public appearances, the recording studio and concert tours.

He even dressed his buddy in matching military-style outfits as they shared rooms in the world’s ritziest hotels.
