CAUGHT UNAWARES BY THE PANDEMIC DISRUPTION IN THE preceding year, Indian manufacturing realised that the laggard adoption of digitisation and digitalisation till then and excessive reliance on certain geographies for supply chain had left the industry ill-equipped face the challenge. Quickly gathering itself in 2021, the sector has ken massive steps in course correction, recuperated and is allready charge big in 2022. “The Indian economy is at an inflection point that marks the start of a w virtuous growth cycle,” says Manish Bhatnagar, Managing Director, F India Ltd.

MANUFACTURING INDIA: HIGHLIGHTS 2021

Digital adoption, by all accounts, has been among the undoubted highlights of 2021. Accelerated by the forced lockdown caused by disruptive ndemic, businesses and people at large have learned to live with remote working, solve problems in real-time, be accessible, and leverage technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Cloud. Work-from-home as a fallout is the new normal. “We have learnt to manage day to day working including remote machine monitoring and maintenance using digital technology. This is expected to be the new normal,” says, Zurvan Marolia - Sr. Vice President, Godrej & Boyce, who observes around him that “businesses which have been able to think digital-first are relevant, growing and scaling up their operations”.
